Services
Snow & Ice Removal
- During the winter months, the removal of snow and ice is the joint responsibility of both the Office of Building Services and the Office of Grounds and Landscape Maintenance Services. This service is accomplished according to pre-established schedules and plans that have been developed to accomplish three major goals:
- Maximize the efficiency of the operations staff members and their designated equipment
- Complete the removal operation in the shortest time possible
- Ensure that the campus is safe to open
- The Office of Building Services is specifically responsible for the removal of snow and ice from around all campus buildings, a minimum of ten feet out depending on the entranceway/walkway of a particular building. This generally occurs approximately one and one-half hours after the Office of Grounds and Landscape Maintenance Services has commenced with the clearing of the roadways and major walkways. Once the main entrances are cleared to a safe condition, staff will continue to work on clearing secondary entrances, squaring off walkways, completing a total clearing of steps to prevent ice accumulation, and applying additional sand or ice melt in areas as required.
- If you feel an area remains particularly icy or may have been overlooked, please submit an Online Work Order Request.
Exterior Recycling and Trash Removal
- The Department of Building Services is responsible for emptying exterior recycling, trash, and ash containers on campus.
- While our staff regularly empty the containers, if you see an exterior recycling, trash, or ash urn container that is full and needs to be emptied, please submit an Online Work Order Request. When submitting the Online Work Order Request, please be sure to clearly describe the location and specific nature of the request. If you cannot provide enough location information in Step 2, please feel free to include additional information in Step 4. In Step 3, please select “Building Services” under the Problem Type on the form.
Special Recycling and Trash Removal
- If you are cleaning out your office or storage area and anticipate the need for additional trash or recycling containers, you can arrange for additional containers and pickup by submitting an Online Work Order Request.
- When submitting the Online Work Order Request, please select “Building Services” under the Problem Type on the form.
- If you are looking for trash or recycling containers to be used in association with a campus event or activity, please request this through your event scheduler so that it can be included in the event contract.
Parking Garage & Maintenance
- The Department of Maintenance & Grounds is responsible for keeping the parking lots and garages clean.
- This includes emptying of trash and recycling containers, litter removal, and managing contracted street sweeping service.
- If a parking lot or garage gate is not working, please submit an Online Work Order Request.
- If a parking garage or lot light is out, or if you note a needed repair in a garage structure, please submit an Online Work Order Request.
- If you have a request regarding trash or litter removal in the parking garages or lots, please submit an Online Work Order Request. When submitting the Online Work Order Request, please be sure to clearly describe the location and specific nature of the request. If you cannot provide enough location information in Step 2, please feel free to include additional information in Step 4. In Step 3, please select “Grounds” under the Problem Type on the form.
